Operation

NB Safety Note: Fortronics Electronic Chokers will not release under load.

Yarder operator:

The operator pushes the release button momentarily while the strop or rigging is about to be lowered.

The choker trigger immediately assumes a parked position by resting on the outside edge of the locking pin sleeve.

The moment the strop goes slack the locking pin will retract and the release process is accomplished.

Breaker-outs:

Once a stem is ready for retrieval, the breaker - out loops the strop around the log in the normal way.

Prior to this, the locking pin is pushed into the locked position using either the thumb or the locking pin tool provided (see pic 1).

The strop is laid across the slider,(see pic 2) then the body is slammed onto the slider , so that the locking pin latches.(see pic 3).

A breaker- out wearing one of the portable transmitters can release all chokers within a radius of up to 50 yards.  Useful if any chokers are returned in the 'locked position'.

Also the 'locking pin tool' or a 'stick' can be used to manually release individual chokers which are also not under load.
